This tutorial shows you how to utilise the advanced mapping functionality we have in ScaleFlyt.
The map on ScaleFlyt has been completely overhauled with the key addition of a new set of map annotation tools. We’ve been busy doing lots of user testing and using our own in house drone team to rapidly prototype our map resulting in the best drone planning map on the market. In ScaleFlyt you now have a set of drawing tools which can be customised by colour, by title and by description to ensure that you can create a rich and detailed drone plan. With the added benefit of your ScaleFlyt Organisation you can create and edit this plan together and then keep the map as a live record throughout the life-cycle of the mission. This includes being able to view or edit your annotations in the field on your mobile device.
One of the key improvements that we’ve introduced is the ability to define areas of your mission plan in 3D. This exciting capability allows ScaleFlyt users to define their missions accurately by annotating flight volumes, contingency volumes and risk buffers in 3D. We’ve added this in to help our users create rich planning maps to support their mission planning in alignment with new drone regulations and risk assessment processes such as for EASA.
The other great benefits of the ScaleFlyt map are still there too. You can search for locations by lat long, postcode, address, or What3Words. You can switch between multiple map base layers to benefit from Open Street Map, Open Topographic map, and Bing high resolution aerial imagery, and in the UK, Ordnance Survey Open Zoomstack. You can click on airspace or annotations and get a quick understanding of what they are and how they might affect your operation.
